Female Writers Who Are On A Rage To Change Indian Cinema

The contours of Indian cinema is seeing a new change with each passing year. And these rebellious, amazing female directors and writers have left no stone unturned in doing so. Let’s take a look at some of these amazing female writers who are working day and night to provide and inspire us with their great stories and direction.

1.Kanika Dhillon
Kanika’s love story “ Manmarziyan’ took 3 years to finally reach the cinemas. But as soon as the cinema hit the floors, it fetched a massive fan following in just a couple of days. Well, all the credit goes to the story. The characters were no big deal to be dubbed. The screwed up love sagas that we experience in our daily lives got a pretty real reflection in Manmarziyaan.

 

  1. Konkona Sen Sharma
    Well, her skills are not only limited to perform a wow acting, this veteran actor, writer and director created an impact with her writing and debut directorial. A Death In The Gunj . This sensitive this age drama made the audience astonished and the audience seems quite impressed. Well, we cannot ignore the story of the lead character that also played a major part.

    It’s a challenging task to work on the real problems of women that prevails even in modern-day India.  Lipstick Under My Burkha was a film that has to be made in order to figure out what real women are like, who are far more different from these regular Bollywood masala films.  Alankrita Shrivastava, the director of the film has also assisted film-maker and director Prakash Jha in his past projects.     Zoya Akhtar plunged into her directorial venture with the film Luck by chance casting her brother Farhan Akhtar. Which initially failed to garner much appreciation. But she didn’t stop there and proved herself in her next film “Zindagi na milegi dobara” which became a blockbuster.


7. Reema Kagti
Remember the much appreciated quirky movie “ Honeymoon Travels Private Limited”? It was directed by Reema Kagti. Then later, she continued her success venture with the movie Talash which was a major hit.

 

8.Fatma Begum – The first female director

In 1926, Fatma was the first lady to establish her very own production house known as Fatma Films, which later was renamed Victoria-Fatma Films in 1928. This veteran actor wrote, directed, produced, and even acted in many films produced under her banner.

    With just two blockbuster movies “English Vinglish” and “ DEAR ZINDAGI” Gauri Shinde changed the perspective of the lives of the people.     Nandita Das who has also proved herself earlier by her amazing acting skills, turned into a writer with Firaaq (co-written by Shuchi Kothari), well, as a director too she truly has justified her role.The guts that she had to make films on the sensitive issue like Gujarat riots is just commendable. Now with Manto Nandita is all set to reign again as a writer and director in the Indian film industry.

    The writer of some of the incredible love stories in Bollywood, Kamna chandra marked her journey with the story for the iconic movie 1942: A Love Story. With her latest story Qarib Qarib single, she is again in the limelight for her mature take on love and relationship.

    Much known as lyricist and a dialogue writer, the two movies that Anvita comes up has definitely out of the box story and direction. Her movie like Shaandaar and Phillauri didn’t do so well in the industry but  definitely stood out.
